This is a work of young adult fiction and most libraries using the Dewey Decimal System would shelve it by author rather than as a work of literature. They might arrange fiction into various genres, e.g., Fiction, Mystery, Western, Romance, Science Fiction, Young Adult. The PZ classification for juvenile fiction doesn't have a direct equivalency in Dewey. The Berntsen Library at University of Northwestern St Paul provides a crosswalk link for converting LLC to DDC at http://guides.ucf.edu/dewey/Dewey2LC

If a library doesn't shelve fiction by genre and author and instead arranges literature by country of origin and type of literature, then fiction works by American authors might be shelved in 813. See our guide to the Dewey Decimal Classification system at http://guides.ucf.edu/dewey
